THE FINANCIAL TUNE-UP

One-Time Review: The Financial Tune-Up

The Financial Tune-Up is an intensive financial planning session designed to “rev up” your personal finances. It includes one two-hour meeting and email and phone support for 30 days on topics discussed during our meeting. The Financial Tune-Up is an overview of your financial progress and not a comprehensive financial plan.

Frequently addressed topics include:

  • Are my investments structured according to my goals, risk profile, time horizon, and tax situation? How are my investments doing? How can I reduce my investment costs?
  • Am I saving enough to retire? What are the best retirement-savings vehicles for me?
  • How can we save for our child's education? Should we open a 529 plan? Should funds for college be in our child's name? How will financial aid be affected?
  • How can I develop a spending plan to help me achieve my goals?
  • What type of tax strategies are right for me? Can I amend prior tax returns for missed deductions?

How the Financial Tune-Up Works

For a successful Tune-Up, you’ll send the following information and documents at least 10 days prior to your scheduled meeting:

For a tax review, send your last three tax returns and W-2s and income year-to-date including your most recent pay slip(s)

For an investment review, send a list of all assets and liabilities, recent copies of all your investment statements (including brokerage, bank, pension and social security statement)

Prior to your meeting, I will review your information and prepare an outline of major points to address and preliminary recommendations.

The Financial Tune-Up Appointment

During this two-hour session we will discuss your three most critical questions, making sure your questions are fully answered. You will receive written recommendations that include the steps you need to take to implement those recommendations. An additional hour will be left open at the end of the appointment to discuss retainer options suitable to your situation if you are interested.

Implementation and Follow-Up

Proper implementation is crucial to achieving your financial goals. If we decide to continue working together, I will help you implement the recommendations.  If the Tune-Up meets your objectives, you may call or email me for 30 days following your appointment with questions you may have.

Financial Tune-Up Fee

The fee for the Financial Tune-Up is $750*. If you decide that the Comprehensive Financial Planning Retainer is better suited for your needs, I will credit to those retainer fees your full Tune-Up fee paid.

*The fee may be tax deductible. Investment fees and expenses are classified as “miscellaneous itemized deductions” on Schedule A and may be deductible to the extent they exceed 2% of the taxpayer's adjusted gross income.

Are you ready to pursue working together?

Call me at 978-461-4932 or email me. We’ll schedule a short telephone meeting so that I can learn what you’ve done in the past, what you want to achieve, and whether working together may be right for you.
